師の言葉を胸に染める、今の時代に映える江戸小紋。

江戸小紋の第一人者・故・藍田正雄氏に師事後、独立。現在は個人工房「よし菊」にて新たな江戸小紋の世界を広げ、伝統工芸展で数々の入選を重ねる実力派。藍田氏の「今のものを作れ」「平成の江戸小紋を」という言葉を胸に、今の時代に映える江戸小紋の創作に果敢に取り組んでいらっしゃいます。大学を卒業後、大手電機メーカーに入社し第一線で活躍していたある日、藍田正雄氏の作品に出会って運命を感じ、すべてを投げ打って弟子入りを願いました。約13年間の修行の後に師の言葉に後押しされて独立、5年後の2016年には銀座もとじでの初個展を開催。型紙の選び方や扱い方、染のトーンと色使い、生地との組み合わせなど、昔ながらの伊勢型紙の紋様をベースにしながらも、創造性あふれる新しい江戸小紋を作られています。

Edo Komon

After an apprenticeship with the renowned Aida Masao, Kikuchi opened her own workshop Yoshikiku, winning many awards and prizes for her exemplary work along the way. Inspired by the words of her late master, she strives to make Edo Komon that reflect the current times

The story of Kikuchi and Aida’s meeting is an interesting one., Despite working for an electronics company, Kikuchi came across the work of Aida. His work struck a chord and she felt it destiny to work alongside him. Soon after she gave up her work and became his apprentice.

After 13 years of training and her masters’ words of encouragement, Kikuchi became an independent artist. In 2016 she held her first solo exhibition at Ginza Motoji, just five years as an independent maker. Using traditional Ise-katagami stencils and a contemporary outlook Kikuchi creates stylish creations for the now.
