Women’s Kimono; Waori・Wasen

Our store Waori・Wasen can be found in Ginza 4-chome. The store is divided into two parts, with more formal items in Wasen, and casual items in Waori.

To the left is 和染Wasen.
Wasen offers refined attire ranging from classical beauty to modern styles that seamlessly blend with Western aesthetics. We also emphasize original creations using domestically produced silk and Platinum Boy fabric, collaborating with dyeing artists and studios.

On the right you will find 和織Waori.
Waori focuses on casual textiles such as tsumugi, omeshi, and fabrics such as linens and jofu. Here you will find work from all over Japan, in all colors and textures under the sun. Many of the items will also be handwoven, and dyed with natural dyes.

Our distinguishing features are wooden doors and exterior walls made of traditional roof tiles. We aspire to become an oasis in Ginza, where kimono enthusiasts can find solace and comfort.

Our interiors incorporate natural materials nurtured by the Japanese rain and sun. From the large table made from a single slab of cedar, to chairs upholstered with washi cloth. The shoji sliding doors are even dyed with natural plant dyes. Our space is adorned with elements that evoke a sense of peace and harmony.

Feel free to consult with us regarding your kimono needs. We will carefully listen to your preferences, budget, existing kimono collection, in order to have you looking and feeling your best while wearing kimono. We offer a wide selection of not just kimono, but also accessories, which are essential components of your attire. We also provide practical bags and comfortable zori sandals that fulfill both functionality and beauty.

Through a kari-kitsuke fitting, we transform the roll of fabric into a kimono shape, allowing you to visualize what the finished kimono will look like, and how the patterns come to life. We can also create one-of-a-kind bespoke pieces, in collaboration with local makers.

We also offer kimono workshops, free of charge, covering everything from dressing to maintenance. Even if you are new to the world of kimono, please feel free to join us.

We organize talk events monthly, featuring creators from all over Japan. These talks are a rare chance to learn about the making of kimono, from directly from the makers themselves. You can explore photographs showcasing the workshop's scenery and beloved tools, while immersing yourself in the passion behind their craftsmanship.
