As female cocoons lay eggs, they discharge their protein at the same time. Therefore male silk worms produce finer, stronger, and glossier silk than females.’
Many scientists have studied fabrics which are produced by silk that was discharged by male cocoons. Finally, thanks to genetic technology and after 37 years of trial and error, Dr.Onuma who work at National Institute of Sericultural and Entomological Science was succesful in produicing Platinum Boy.
Limited Platinum Boy were introduced in 2007 and received highly rated evaluations from customers.
All the participants are happy with this achievement and will be continuing to produce the Platinum Boy going forward.
