As Komei was travelling across the country to produce dyed-fabric Kimono, he started aspiring to introduce a Kimono which is dyed from Ginza’s Willow tree, a face of Ginza. About a decade ago, Komei was told that the local council cut off branches of the willow trees and throw them away every year. Thus he made inquiries with the council if he could use the willow and produce Ginza’s willow kimono.
Since then, Komei sent the willows out to designers all over the country, and asked them to produce the kimono. Plant dyeing could create variable colours, because of mordant.
Every year, Komei visits Taimei Elementary School in Ginza, and teaches willow dyeing to 5th grade students.
As Komei is based in Ginza, he is always passionate to produce the only product that can be produced in Ginza. The company must not forget and should always respect Komei’s passion.
